Join us on the third Thursday of each month for Fiction with Feeling! Romance, Humor, Historical Fiction, Mystery...Positive reads that will leave you connected, encouraged, inspired, and entertained!
This month's selection is With You Always by Jody Hedlund and is Book 1 of her Orphan Train Series. Upon the death of both her parents, immigrant orphan Elise Neumann and her sisters are left destitute in 1850s New York City. Desperate to keep the family together, Elise takes work out west, arranged by the New York Children's Aid Society. On the train she meets upper crust gentleman Thornton Quincy who is on a mission to prove himself to his father - his challenge is to build a sustainable community along the Illinois Central Railroad and to find a suitable wife.
This story about a little-known part of our country's history and the growth and development of our Midwest region makes for an enlightening and enjoyable read.
