Presenter: Kathy Yearwood and Megan Ritterskamp, HYR Native Plants

Winter sowing is one of the most rewarding entry points into growing native plants from seed, and Kathy Yearwood will make it approachable for everyone in the room. This first session covers the science behind cold stratification, how to set up simple and low-cost sowing containers, and which native species are the best candidates for beginners and experienced growers alike. (Workshop format)

The second session "From Seedling to Garden: What Comes After Winter Sowing" will he held on March 13, 2027.

About the branch

Opened in the spring of 2003, EVPL Oaklyn is located on the corner of Oak Hill and Lynch Roads at 3001 Oaklyn Drive. Featuring a green roof that helps regulate the temperature of the building and provides a valuable space for a meadow, the building itself has received national attention and won multiple design awards. EVPL Oaklyn boasts open spaces, study rooms, public access computers, and a popular meeting room.
